The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

The Mistress Submission Guidelines Upcoming Events Requests

Howdy folks.

I know it's been a while since we last did anything together around here, and I hope you accept my apologies for that. The Bikini Beach Party contributions are now on my hard drive waiting for a more appropriate climate for release (the way the weather is right now the poor girls would probably freeze to death wearing those outfits!) and I'm looking to start up the next event this weekend.

Based on comments from artists involved in previous events I'm giving you all a couple of months to get together contributions this time, with the hopes of getting something up in time for Valentine's Day, February 14 (or thereabouts.)

The idea behind this event is "Love For Sale", in other words the girls have got together and opened up a dating agency in order to raise money for their holidays later in the year (insert Bikini Beach Party here,

)

Unfortunately there seems to be some disagreement about what the agency should be doing, with some girls dressing up in their finest clothes in order to escort their dates to posh restaurants, theatre openings and other fine occasions while other are... well let me put it this way, the backroom's just about to get raided by the Vice Squad.

The choice is yours, you can either draw your OC or favourite female character dressed as a lady or draw them dressed as a "Lady of the Night". Male character can be included in the jam as well, but they have to be either escorting a young woman out on a high class date or dressed as a police officer coming to take them into custody.

The final deadline for this event will be the end of February, and don't worry, I'm planning on starting another event in the meantime in case you get bored of waiting for results.

Summary
Theme: Ladies and "Ladies of the Night"
Format: Black and white inks or linearts ready to be coloured
Submissions: Any entry must be posted to the group gallery and a note be sent to the Mistress to confirm the submission.
Deadline: February 26th, 2011
Limits: Posh frocks or lewd clothing for the ladies, posh clothing or police uniforms for the men. Men must be accompanied by women at all times (otherwise the Mistress may steal them.

I was hoping to get another event started this weekend, an April's Fool themed one as per the schedule I drew up a couple of months back, but since there's been no interest in this event I didn't think it'd be worth starting another one so soon.

Currently Slice is hanging in Detroit with Tinman and Reiko. She and Divebomb are still a little chilly after the whole 'walking in and catching you fucking my ex-boyfriend' situation (which was the last canon event to happen before Divebomb moved to #Angel-FallsDA.)

Ahhh, I thought that was part of the retcon... no matter, it'll still be interesting to see Divebomb in AF, mabe even see how she and Robin interact or if some of the events that have allready happened are in the past for them...

Yeah, the retcon part was that Slice wasn't abducted to Angel Falls by Nightshade, instead she followed Divebomb to America and is holed up in Detroit as part of the support team.

She and Divebomb are talking again and behave warmly enough to each other but Divebomb believes that Slice is still in a physical relationship with Tinman, not knowing that what she witnessed was simply a one-time deal.

She's also feeling guilty over the fact that she's recently been involved with Nightshade, who Divebomb has just discovered is actually her half-sister. Nightshade already knew about their relationship before getting involved with Divebomb, having been told several years earlier by their father, but she's such a slut that the idea just made it more fun for her. Epecially since she got to tell Divebomb by whispering it in her ear as they lay in bed together.

Slice doesn't quite understand why Divebomb's keeping her at a distance, and doesn't realise, due to her lack of social upbringing, that having sex with Tinman was something Divebomb would take offence from. It hasn't even dawned on her to mention the fact she's not having sex with Tinman, since having sex with him was no big deal to her.

Tinman's feeling guilty over the whole thing, and has guessed that Divebomb knows what happened, but so far he's been too ashamed to raise the subject with her at all.

So at the moment, no-one's getting any (apart from Nightshade who's sleeping with her secretary, dirty bint that she is.) Kinda like a lack of love triangle.

Huh, well there you go... Nightshade does sound rather twisted, but hey, at least she's not an enemy...

So... how does all the rivalry and revenge things between Robin and Divebomb fit in? Yet to come, in the past or different continuity entirely because it'd be too tricky to work in?
